Glad to see some reorganization.
How about a description of what/where/when we are supposed to post what/where/when? |

| These things take time. Believe me, that's on my "to-do" list. |

I debated with myself if this was even worth mentioning and have decided it is. I understand this may only apply to me since I'm probably one of the only ones who still use a screen resolution of 800X600, but some of the new section descriptions are stretching the screen, causing the dreaded horizontal scroll.
Minor annoyance but an annoyance just the same.
Maybe if they were changed, for example, from:
Decanting: Where you come into existence and learn about this site.
To:
Decanting:
Where you come into existence and learn about this site. |

| Thanks for letting me know. I tried adjusting my screen to that resolution, but got the horizontal scroll bar only due to pre-change things. Can you PM me a screenshot? |

Inevitable feedback!
Mission Alert should, if not the top of the board, definitely be at the top of its section.
I'm not too sure about the section descriptions. "Detracts from the feel of the site" as Allandaros would put it. I understand the interest in keeping it user-friendly, but there might be a more stylish way of doing it. _________________ For the Glory of Friend Computer! |

If the reason for reorganization of the forums was primarily to get more folks to post, then notices for PBEM, PBP, JParanoia or IC forum games should most definitely NOT be at the top of the list.
If the reason for reorganization of the forums was primarily to get more folks to play those sorts of games, then putting them at the top is fine.
As far as I can tell, the reorganization was to eliminate unused forums and increase activity in the normal game discussion forums. This means the forums should start with an "About this Site and Forum" which "Tech Services" does nicely.
The mission alert stuff is already pretty close to the top.
The RPG stuff has been condensed nicely. This should increase apparent post count there. It will increase traffic to individual RPG related discussions, since they aren't spread out so much.
So far, I think the reorganization looks good, and should accomplish the above goals of increasing RPG forum posting. |

I hate it. I hate mission alert not being at the top. I hate Tech Services being at the top. It looks so horribly wrong It makes me feel ill. It gives off this aura of wrongness.
But that's jsut me. maybe I'm weird. But the top of the page seems the msot logical and jsut plain right place for mission alert imho. _________________ Episode 5 info for Aratos-B-SCO-7

I think you probably only use the mission alert section, and that's why you think it should be at the top.
No other forums, I've ever seen, are organized with something other than a "HERE's ABOUT THIS FORUM" forum at the top. It's a standard web forum way to do things, I think.
Without this section at the top, you probably lose at least 1/2 of new visitors because they can't figure out where to post what. With the reorganization, most (if not all) of that problem is gone. It may or may not be exactly the same as what some us would have done had we been the admin, but!!, I think what the current admins have done does in fact make this forum more simple, and thus, more inviting to new forum users.
If you really use the Mission Alert section, exclusively (which is fine by me) then bookmark this:
http://www.paranoia-live.net/forum/index.php?c=6
It is the mission alert section with all the other sections minimized.
Have fun.
All of this is IMHO of course. |

Tch. Everyone says to change it, then they change it, and everyone complains they changed it.
I didn't think the forum order needed changing before, but its set out a little more logically now and is rather spiffy with the new short section descriptions. I like it. Well done saulres. _________________ Werewolf/Mafia/With Hunt game! Starting in the PBEM area! Linky! |

Yeah, I'm pretty conservative as well, and I hate it simply because it's different, but I'm forced to admit that change is for the better in the long run. _________________ For the Glory of Friend Computer! |

I don';t rememebr the last time I used the mission alert forum, dude.
Personally, my point of view as to forum layout is simple: the most important stuff goes first. And to me, mission alert's the msot important. I mean, sure put TS above it becasue it's the announcements forum, which makes sense, but not everything else as well. In particular, I'd of put R&D much lower. Most forums I visit tend to have that kinda thing near the bottom: which actuallymakes a lot of sense. Top and bottom of the page are the parts that're easiest to find. Personally, i'd maybe put Tech Serrvices at the top, maybe , not definately. Not positive i like that. Then Mission alert etc, then Paranoia RPG discussion, then site discussion, then the forum game.
But that's jsut how I'd do it. My mind doesn't work in the same way to the average joe bloggs, I admit. _________________ Episode 5 info for Aratos-B-SCO-7

I think it just looks weird because we're so used to the way it was. I liked it the way it was, but i don't know. This could be better. I'm willing to give it a chance.

I think you may be seriously underestimating the intelligence of... well, 1/2 of our new visitors. The lines saying "This is the place to post about..." under each forum weren't exactly cryptic.

It's actually something which had been bothering me for quite some time. I just hadn't gotten off my butt to do anything about it, until I was prompted by the flurry of ideas coming from the members, and the absence of admins to do anything about them. |
