I've been turning this over in my head for a couple days. I can't think of a better/more fun finale than having the field flooded with spectators and formerly unconscious players, with the Troubleshooters trying to make one more goal amidst the chaos.
Maybe as a twist, have the debriefing officers get the teams RIGHT this time (i.e. the 'losing' team is sent to the 'winners' debrief and vice versa.) |

A random idea I had is for when they make the final throw to the goal, or when the other team does the same for the opposite goal. It's going, going, and... it lands on a flybot hovering above the stadium, televising the match. The referee rules that the ball is still in play. Cue everybody, possibly including the spectators, taking out their weapons and trying to shoot down the poor flybot. And nobody would accidentally shoot the other team... or their teammates... and no riots would break out... _________________ IC Name: Rod-B-EIC-2, Head of R&D

I've given this module some thought. One thing that occurs to me is that in a game of Superbowl proportions, every aspect of this game is going to be bet on. It's also likely that the two sponsoring High Programmers are not the only high-ups that have money on the game. These third party powers will have sent Troubleshooter teams of their own. While not impersonating the teams, they resort to other tactics to get the game they want.
The upshot is that in all likelyhood the playing field will be leveled for the players...leveled with cone rifle fire. A random table should be constructed to determine who's being shot at. Any time one of the teams is about to score, everyone gets shot at.
Also, about half way through the game, IntSec arrives to haul away the referees. Don't explain why. Now the game will be officiated by the Green Goons.
Meanwhile, it appears that a fan has stripped naked and is now dancing in the middle of the field. No one tries to stop him. If the Troubleshooters interfere, admonish them for interrupting the half-time show.
Another trick: in the second half of the game, the fun ball morphs into a robotic ferret and mauls whoever is holding it. Once the ball carrier stops moving, the robo ferret reverts to its ball shape. The ref gives it a brief inspection before declaring Everything Normal and signaling for the game to continue. |
