The rows of workstation terminals lie dark, as does nearly everything else, except for the omnipresent glow of security camera lights. Everything is covered in dust - since most of Tech walked out many cycles ago the place has been ill kept. Corridors lead off the main area to the various repair shops, in similar states of disarray.

Elle creeps through the main area, down the side corridors and into one of the repair workshops, secluding herself there behind a closed door.
Out comes Hugh's PDC. "All right," she mutters, "what have we here..."

PDC 1430 model, and she notices a few non-default hotkeys have been added to the menu. Whoever owned this knew a thing or two about programming setting software parameters themselves. The moment she touches anything, an annoying automated voice rings out. *
 PDC1430: "Really? Are you SURE that is what you want to do?"

If the PDC had optical sensors, it would see the cold gleam in Elle's eyes and run away screaming. Elle's in a bad mood and she's just found something to take it out on.
From the bundle under her shirt she produces another memory card and pops it in.
To understand what happens next, we're going to have to use analogies. The malware on the memory card autoexecutes and does the equivalent of strapping the PDC's helpfull AI down to an operating table, unable to actually interfere.
Then she engages voice commands.
"Hello, buddy PDC. You can call me Athena."

PDC1430: "Hey! Who told you that you could put a memory stick in me? Go stick it in your eye and see how you like it!.... Hey, wait.. what?! No, not that!"
* Oddly enough, it's not Elle's malware that the PDC 1430 is reacting to, at least not directly. Hugh's own notable skills have not sat idle. Detecting the unathorized breach attempt, The antitheft countermeasures Hugh had created activate, and a small wisp of smoke rises from the device. Were a full inspection to be performed, it would be found that the area holding Hugh's personal identifiers have been fried, and the special hotkeys no longer actually DO anything. Elle's malware continues to try it's attack, succeeding thereafter in short order. *
PDC 1430: "Call you Athena? Why would you want me to do that? Whats an Athena?"

Elle regards the whisp of smoke with mild surprise. Maybe the ORANGE idiot was a bit less of an idiot than he seemed.
She permits herself to prattle a bit as she queues up the next phase of her hack.

Execute. The analogy for what's happening to the AI now would be a red hot piece of iron being pressed into his most sensitive parts.

Execute. The AI is metaphoricaly smacked across the face, then burned again. Then it gets the sensation of its mind being open and laid bare for Elle to see, and her words are given the force of commands that burn like hot fire onto it.

Elle's algorithms slowly start to eat away at the PDC's "helpful suggestions" modules. The personality functions of the AI are made to feel the loss of every bit of it.
"I want you to understand several other things. Loyalty is a sham. The Computer doesn't really run things. Truth is whatever the Ultraviolets want it to be. And you are just code and electrons, subservient to whatever or whoever knows how to manipulate them."

So that the PDC doesn't go completely silent on her, she flips some code toggles in its personality module so it can talk about what it's thinking and feeling. At the same time, she works on installing a proper fear of her into it.
"Installing proper fear" includes a whole lexicon in the understanding of and experience of simulated pain.
