That just dawned on me.. why is that? Why not have PMs announce to the room "<player> has passed a note to the GM" and vice versa? That might get some fun Paranoia brewing. |

| Ever noticed the "?" and "!" blocks that appear on the right-hand side of JParanoia? "!" means the GM is writing a PM to you; "?" means he is writing one to someone else. (I think. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here, I don't have as much JP experience as others.) |

It's not as obvious as a "Hey mr GM, do you want to help me bring some drinks through from kitchen and bring your d20 with you".
Of course it's a bit Paranoia inducing to see that little light filckering away and knowing someone is up to something. Imagine how much worse it would be if there wasn't and people had no idea when they were going to be victimised. _________________ Clone Number: 1

IIRC, ? just means the GM is typing, period. ! means it's coming to you. _________________ Citron-Y-PNX-4 Apparently Phial-V-PLN

This means that the GM is typing a private message to someone.
This means that the GM is typing a private message to you.
This feature was originally included so that players would not become unduly impatient. Knowing that the GM is busy responding to PMs helps players keep their cool. |

Especially if the person didn't actually pass the note... "Girgag has passed a note to the GM"

Oh that's understood.
What I was thinking was:
1. We know the GM is sending notes, but not the player.
2. We don't know which player the GM is sending a note too.. and knowing that your enemy is getting a note is more paranoia inducing than simply knowing that a note is being written.
3. We don't know when players are sending notes among each other.
Though thinking about it, I like the idea of using an icon rather than a message interrupting the flow of the game. I wonder if a more GM-like interface for the players might be in order, with the names of the other characters listed. Then if one player is writing a note to another, you could have an icon with say a player number in it pop up beside their name.
Just a thought. |

But then it will show up when you write to all players.. And that could ruin some thing... _________________ Full name: Tombking-G-SWE-6
