I'm going to be going to the Penny Arcade Exposition ( http://www.penny-arcade.com/pax/ ) Next weekend, and I've been asked if I could run a Paranoia XP demo game or two. Is there any way that I can get a book and GM screen by next weekend? Can anyone help me out? _________________ http://superrob.blogspot.com

| They should be available in finer gaming stores everywhere starting Monday, according to the Mongoose folk. More details when I give my official report tonight. |

OK, I'll see if I can hunt them down this week, hopefully being the absolute farthest distance possible away (Seattle) isn't going to hurt me! _________________ http://superrob.blogspot.com

| Actually I think Mongoose Publishing is to begin selling Paranoia XP to retailers on Monday. You've got to figure in some time for placing those orders, shipping, and finally putting a sticker on them and getting them onto the shelves. Call your game shop and tell them where they can order it if you want to get it soon! It'll be a couple of weeks (at least) before they're widely available. |

You have? By who? I just ask because I've sent a request to the Mongoose CEO, on Varney's suggestion, to notify PAX and pitch Paranoia XP to them. If the officials have already asked you to demo it, then we don't want to be redundant. _________________ -Mike-V-LEM, Head of HPD&MC |

| Jeez, Mike-U, what is your problem with repeatedly calling me "Varney" instead of "Allen"? Are you trying to pick a playground fight, or what? You come off as rude. |

Well, I happen to know Jerry and Mike, not to mention Robert, their business dude. Since they were borrowing some of my stuff for the con anyway, I mentioned that I was a big Paranoia fan, and Robert told me that if I could get the stuff to run a couple of demos, they'd be all for it. I wouldn't say it's anything uber-official, but it would be the first con game outside of GenCon, and I think that would be pretty cool. Robert seemed into it, and it seems like some of the con goers are up for a game, so it should be interesting.
Hopefully I could get the books in time, but I have a fall-back plan just in case.
I wasn't aware you were local, Mike, but I'd be thrilled to get you involved too. In fact, if you're experienced GMing, I might masquerade as a player to help the others get into the right frame of mind.
Anything to get the game more exposure is fantastic as far as I'm concerned. _________________ http://superrob.blogspot.com

Troy,
I'm checking with my local retailer tomorrow - he's ordered 40 copies of the book for me to sell in the shop. His national distributor's warehouse is only 90 minutes from here, so there is an excellent chance we'll get those books quickly. I'll let you know after I call him in the morning. If we can get those books, then I can express ship them to you.
Just another option in case nothing else works out sooner.

Indeed they are, Allandaros.
Troy,
The retailer helping me is hunting down books now. Apparently there is some confusion about the GM screens, which the distributor doesn't think are available yet. My retailer pals are on the case, and seem hopeful that the rulebooks (at the very least) would arrive here on the West coast by Thursday or Friday. That doesn't leave much margin for error for me to get a book shipped up to you by this weekend. You might beg your local game shop to make some phone calls to their distributor on your behalf. If books can arrive in California by Thursday or Friday, the same should be true of Washington.

Woho! They're coming, they're coming!
On another note, have fun at PAX, I'd go but I'm on the East Coast. Should be a blast.

No. Varney is just more catchy than Allen. It's also a subconscious link to the Ernest movies I used to watch.
I'll get it right, eventually.

Next person to make a cheesy non-pun name like that gets recycled.
Speaking of Halo, has anyone read the old Marathon logs and debated how that view of AI dialog could be applied to Paranoia? _________________ -Mike-V-LEM, Head of HPD&MC |
