Well, that should be enough time to brainstorm. Time to select the plot for the Mandatory Community Mission #2! After extensive deliberations and much thought, I've whittled our choices down to two.
DISCLAIMER!!! Descriptions below are only to give us an idea of what we can do with each plot. Once we decide on which to use, we'll delve into its murky depths and start making sense and fun of it all.
They are ...
FUN WITH FUNBALL: Troubleshooters are sent to investigate the championship Funball team for some reason (they've disappeared, they're mutants, they're throwing games, etc.). Eventually, they have to pretend to be that team and play some Funball before fixing the problem.
WE'RE US, I PROMISE: Troubleshooters are assigned a simple mission but run into many, many problems reaching the briefing room. They run into another Troubleshooter team and trade missions. Their new mission is to find themselves, since they (or the other team) never made it to the briefing room. They have to find the other team.
So vote for your favorite and tell us why that plot should be used. Anyone posting other plots or new plots will be ignored. You have been warned. (Seriously, I'm sorry if you really liked I, Bot or another plot. But moving forward is a key part of the writing process. We need to start making decisions!) _________________ IC note: Wields a laser pistol that talks to him through a tiny wireless earpiece. No, really. |

We're us I promise. I always love the missions where finding the briefing room is the hardest part, and now we can build a entire mission around that! My glee is endless. _________________ IC Notes:

Fun with Funball. The possibilities just seem so... well, full of possibility I guess. _________________ Episode 5 info for Aratos-B-SCO-7

We're Us, I Promise seems more adaptable. Given a simple enough premise any GM can build around it, whereas Funball seems to tie things down. _________________ For the Glory of Friend Computer! |

Fun with Funball seems more substantive and reveals more about the Funball sport, which would be good for Paranoia players...Would be more adaptable to STRAIGHT than We're Us, I Promise, which would likely be for Classic and Zap. _________________

Fun With Funball. And I'm not just saying this since it was my original idea...
Ahem. Anyway, I believe this mission has potential because of two major reasons:
1) What Paranoia player, deep inside their black and twisted heart, doesn't want to know more about Funball?!
2)If properly written, it can provide Troubleshooters plenty of opportunities to backstab and betray their fellow comrades to their never-ending glee. For We're Us, I Promise, as soon as the Troubleshooter team figures out what the deuce is going on, the game is over. Fun With Funball doesn't have that sort of gimmick going on.
So, hooray for Fun With Funball! And me for thinking of it-ZAPZAPZAP _________________ Name: Elm-V-FUD-6

We're Us, I Promise. Mainly because I love any mission which involves teams getting tangled up in buerocracy, and this one sounds especially good. _________________ IC notes:

| We're Us, I Promise because tempting as it may be I think that giving any kind of specific detail of Funball gameplay is going to hurt Funball's effectiveness as a concept. Take 50's horror flicks... The best ones were the ones where the monster's visage was only hinted at. Your brain fills in the rest and goes "Wow, that's scary." Worlds more effective than "Oh, a guy in a latex suit." Part of Funball's appeal is its mystery and flexibility. |

We're Us, I Promise gets my vote. It sounds like a far more interesting idea to me, with far more potential to become quite deep and tense, whilst still maintaining mandatory humour levels. _________________ Clone: Xai-I-SHI-4

Yes, exactly my point.

We don't want to 'reveal' the intricacies of Funball, because then whoever reads it will take it as gospel. Funball is just another hazy aspect of Alpha Complex culture that can be built upon when required. Hell, I don't even think Funball is referenced in a published supplement, is it? _________________ For the Glory of Friend Computer! |

It is in Extreme Paranoia, with a pair of contradicting rules.
But yeah, Funball should be left well alone as one of the great many Paranoia mysteries. _________________ ID Tag Reads: Joe-G-YNP-2

| I think Fun with Funball has potential, because of the mystery surrounding the sport. I've got this wonderful image of the troubleshooters trying to humour an obsessive funball coach who goes on and on about the most bizarre and nonsensical strategies, and goes ballistic if anyone shows any sign of being less than 110% up on Funball. Also, as has been said before, the concept seems more open-ended. |

We're Us is just more Paranoia. Fun with Funball could be done in lots of other, non-Fun, RPGs. _________________ Slice-[Whatever.]-UPP-4
