Good day. I'm the creator of five-year-old Gamegrene.com, "for the gamer who's sick of the typical." It's been recently mentioned on the Paranoia blog, gotten two Slashdottings, blah blah blah. The reason for this particular topic is because of an upcoming mention in Dragon Magazine, scheduled for the March issue (street date mid-February, I suspect).
Being an immense fan of Paranoia, I'd like to have an article up sometime in February such that the incoming readers of Dragon Magazine will learn the greatness of the new Paranoia XP, and cause more demand for the already lacking supply. I had plans on writing an article myself, but as my time has grown shorter and shorter, I'm not going to be able to, which is rather upsetting as I do so want /something/ about Paranoia XP for these Dragonettes.
Thus, at Allen's suggestion, I'm posting here in an attempt to dredge up an article from the community. The article will be unpaid (free promotion for Paranoia XP is the "return" here), and roughly 800 to 2000 words (though, if it's ubergood, who knows). Both myself and my readers are rather good at catching "articles as advertisement", so even though it sounds like I'm asking for one (which, well, I sorta am), the article should really "feel" more than that. It also shouldn't be a Review, as we're all more than a little biased. Things I'm looking to see covered:
* 1 paragraph on the history of Paranoia
* quickie blurb on its uniqueness: treason/CMT, etc.
* list of current releases, list of upcoming/planned.
* quickie explanation of how to use JParanoia/Paranoia-Live.net
* link to known Paranoia resources (mission blender, form gen, etc.)
* "this isn't an ad" (something "more"): mini-adventure, items, plots, etc.
I'm posting this a few weeks later than I wanted to - I really wanted to have my own article done by this time, and kept stretching things out in hopes of getting it done. Sadly, this isn't the case, so turnaround time for this request is eviller than normal. I'm only looking for ONE article. Lemme know if there are any takers, and don't hesitate to ask questions or narrow down what I'm looking for.
Thanks! _________________ http://www.disobey.com/

| I'm more than a little busy with STUFF book graphics but I'd love to see one the regular ink slingers take care of this. |

| Leave it to me. Paranoia made me remember how much I loved RPGs. It's time I returned the favor. |

| I'd be willing to throw in what I can, but a few of those parts I wouldn't be too much help with (ie. History of Paranoia/list of links). |

Excellent, excellent. Unfortunately I only need one article (although I'd certainly /love/ to see an ongoing Paranoia series of articles/adventures, we'd have to chat about that at a later time). Since Mike responded first, he'd get the first (only?) shot, so I'm not sure if Allandaros and Dai wanna communicate privately with him to get their own thoughts into the mix. Incidentally, I'm quite pleased that an HPD&MC Executive was the first to respond. _________________ http://www.disobey.com/

On the other hand, I HAVE been shopping around lately to find someone to host some sort of forum-based RPG at the Gamegrene site. Although there is no private message functionality (as per Paranoia-Live, but I could probablya add it were it completely necessary), that's another possible consideration for any volunteer overflow. _________________ http://www.disobey.com/

Since no one has mentioned it here yet, I thought I should mention to those of you hoping to see the article that no such article was included in Dragon. Perhaps Paizo felt that their non-fun game would be threatened by the genius design inherent in PARANOIA _________________ Our Founder, who art Perfection, binary be thy name.

Yeah, I've been meaning to update this topic with the latest info (those who are reading the comments on Allen's blog will already know the following): In a nutshell, the Gamegrene.com mention they planned was cut. They made a last-minute editorial decision to not cover any gaming /web sites/ whatsoever. They didn't tell me this until I emailed 'em with my own "uh, got the issue here. where it at, binky?" question.
I'm rather disappointed, of course. In exchange, I offered Allen the only thing I had complete and utter control over: free banner space on Gamegrene.com for a few months. I've received the information I need to start that ball rolling, but it'll probably be a few weeks before it kicks in (/me curses World of Warcraft). _________________ http://www.disobey.com/

Morbus, regarding the idea of having a Paranoia forum game on your site, I think there would be people here happy to move to an alternative sector for a game, if it helps get us - and PARANOIA - spotted by new potential fans.
But I think the lack of a PM system is going to be a major problem, given PARANOIA's overwhelming theme of backstabbing...
I'd even be tempted to give it a shot myself, albeit with an Ultravoilet game as opposed to the standard massacre... _________________ Blog: [DELETED FOR SECURITY REASONS] Is A Compliment |

Well, there is a PM module for Drupal (the gamegrene.com backend), so I'm more than willing to install that, if you feel it's absolutely required (and, I believe ya already <g>). So, if you're interested, email me at morbus@disobey.com and we'll talk a bit. It'll probably be another month or so before I do anything with PBP stuff - I've got three interested GMs, and roughly 120+ people who voted "yes" to playing ;). _________________ http://www.disobey.com/

We've only just started playtesting the first UV game, so I think we'll wait to see how well that goes, and ideally playtest a few more times before moving it to a forum where people might expect a polished product.
Depending where things go on the UV game front, I hope I'll contact you again in a few months to try a game of it with your members
I think that a more standard Paranoia game would be far better suited to this other forum at this time, which I think should be left in the hands of more capable clones than myself! _________________ Blog: [DELETED FOR SECURITY REASONS] Is A Compliment |
