The Bad Kind of Puppy, reporting for duty!
I'm interested in playing in normal Paranoia (Troubleshooters, I guess) games, but am really interested in running either a Troubleshooters or High Programmers game as a GM.
JParanoia looks kind of intimidating, though, so I'd want to familiarize myself with the program before I run a game online. |
Familiarisation is treason. Jump in and play a game (or two) using the interface. This should indoctrinate you sufficiently well to run your own _________________ I'm usually online Monday to Saturday and, sod it, most Sunday's too |

(excitedly glances around, a slightly twitchy grin held in place on his face with the help of fully tensed neck muscles)
WOW! This place is as great as every other place Friend Computer could hope to populate with seemingly endless swarms of clones! I'm new here, and new to Alpha Complex and I'd just like to say that it would be great if anyone could use an Infrared in my spare time away from the food vats.
(breaks into an enthusiastically loud but off key version of "Friend Computer, Your Friendship Makes Me Happy!", a song of his own composition, its lyrics consisting only of its title over and over...and over)
(inside, his stomach is tied in knots, and his failure to visit the TinkleStall XV previous to entering is threatening to haunt him in a very unhygienic and insubordinate fashion. [who can blame him, really though, as the last several dozen visits have resulted in blunt force trauma, electrical shock, and a vile smelling and horridly itchy rash])
((I have never played this game before but I have read these forums a bit and downloaded the jparanoia client, so I hope to be able to give this a shot. I do not know all of the terminology (like the slang or what all the TLA's stand for and..a ton of stuff) but I think I get the general idea of what to do, once I wade in I guess. Thanks!)) |

(his song comes to an abrupt stop as Friend Computer deigns to devote the merest fraction of a cpu-cycle to one so lowly)
(he stands frozen for a long moment, his eyes bulging and his smile rigidly held into place. a tear (of joy?)begins to run from his right eye, its volume such that his twitching cheek sends smaller drops cascading to the floor. he falls to his knees, a rapturous (tortured) look on his grinning face. His intestines growl loudly, a grim reminder of unfinished business)
Oh, most certainly Friend Computer! Thank you so much, nothing could make me happier than to do that thing you said to do just now and just the way you wanted me to too, that's right, yessir!
If those SuperHappyFunTimeForBeingAwake pills that other clone gave me haven't distorted my perception of time beyond all usefulness, I have...(the strain of doing these calculations appears to physically drain him, every muscle in his body tense as he thinks) at least 12 minutes before it's morning. Wow, that Friend Computer is the best motivator there possibly could be, and nothing makes me happier than knowing that I was considered worthy of being asked to do that thing by that time! Now let's see, I wonder where I could start?
(peering around intently, he notices something charred and black on the floor, around the length of a femur)
Ahhh, a this should do to write with! Friend Computer surely provides!
(still on his knees, he crawls to the object, and without really glancing to see what it is, begins to use it to frantically scrawl on the floor around him. the charcoal leaves mostly illegible marks on the ground, but the volume of marks is impressive)
(mumbling as he scratches on the ground)
...so, so, so, so, so, so, happy that Friend Computer, who is really, really, really, really the best friend a clone could ever, ever, ever, ever have...
(meters of toadying drivel make up the majority of the explanation and somewhere near the end he scrawls)
Oh, when I said I had never been to Alpha Complex I meant to say that each and every day with is so vibrant and different that it feels as though I am born fresh into a strange, new and wondrous place where the Computer is my friend. Which is to say where have I been is to say that it's this place here but sector GUD, but certainly not any strange place where I shouldn't be! I am certainly happy to be here though! Thank you very, very, very (the word very is repeated thousands of times)much!
(he tries to throw his writing tool away but it mysteriously sticks and he cannot let it go)
Oh, not this again, I wish I could find the commie mutant traitor that keeps putting glue on everything!
(he steps back to survey his work, painfully squirming and trying to restrain nature's call. black marks cover all nearby walls and floors, the vast majority of them illegible, many marks are obviously stained by tears, sweat and drool[we hope])
Well, this should be about right, nothing to worry about now!
(his painful squirming has become a jerking dance type of contortion as he struggles to keep control of himself)
I'll go find a TinkleStall, surely I have time before Friend Computer gets here!
(he starts to make his way towards a random direction, misguided hope on his face as he looks for a place to relieve himself) |

Salutations Citizens!
Having recently and successfully updated my 10-year-old PDC with an OS capable of running jParanoia, at this time I see it Mandatory to simutaneously Confess to my Traitorous lurking and volunteer for Troubleshooting duty as punishment.
I currently reside at GMT -10, and on Sundays my time is permenately requisitoned entirely by HPD&MC, which also enlists me at chaotic times across the remainder of the weekcycle.
Alas, although I read one once long ago, ownership of rulebooks is currently above my security clearance. However, I have recently spent enormously unhealthy amounts of time perusing your game logs and other sources, am thoroughly experienced in pen-&-paper RPGs, am a skilled actress, and have [DELETED FOR SECURITY REASONS] for two monthcycles.
All hail Friend Computer!
