An error I see GMs make every game is to forget they're spoofing a character, or to forget not to spoof a character. Single spoofing isn't bad, but what about an additional entry box?
Make one box for GM, and the other box for Spoofed Character. This way, the GM rarely mixes up roles.

I do not share your optimism. The only way to prevent accidental spoofing or non-spoofing would be to put up a confirmation dialog each time the GM typed something saying "THIS (WILL / WILL NOT) BE SPOOFED - is this really what you want to do?" But even then I couldn't just put an OK button - I'd have to make them type in the word "spoof" or "not spoof" 3 times. And even THEN there would still be the occasional goof.
But I'll look into additional (less drastic) measures that may reduce the instance of this error, including your suggestion. |

Yeah. That's weird. Why only start spamming now?
Also, this just brought this thread to my attention, and I say it's a good idea. The spoof window that is. Not buying drugs online. |

Well, it does seem to be the most common GM error (not that GMs are ever wrong, mind...)
The 'Allow GM emotes' checkbox actually might be of use here - I always emote with spoofed characters, and very rarely with the GM - and other GMs tend to do this too, from what I've seen, (I do use GM OOC bubbles, I must admit).
Using this, if you've not clicked to spoof but use an emote (which is fairly rare, as most of the time when you use an emote you want to be spoofing), it does give an error message. So in the meantime, people may want to experiment with this.
Also, would it be possible to give an 'allow GM emote' control in the config file, as this way we wouldn't have to check it every game...
Obviously mistakes will still happen - I think we need to brainstorm for a spoof-proof system. _________________ Blog: [DELETED FOR SECURITY REASONS] Is A Compliment |
