Not to take this off topic, but Speedball was one of the best games ever. I can imagine that with Paranoia trappings. You're right... the possibilities are boundless. _________________ Slice-[Whatever.]-UPP-4

| Could you combine the two? While they're trying to prove they're themselves, they could be forced to play Funball. |

I LIKE IT!
That could be the other team's mission that they take on! Then they complete it (with whatever degree of success, taking up the first 2-3 games), and then they get given the mission to prove that they're themselves! Or that could be their original mission, and then, as the other team appear to have disappeared, they are forced to hunt them down and find out why they didn't do THEIR mission, whilst looking for themselves and playing Funball! _________________ IC notes:

Sounds reasonable. It lenghtens the joke of the We're Us, I Promise...and provide players a reason to keep playing the idea of "We'e Us, I Promise" wears off. I vote for the merger. _________________

With a vote split exactly down the middle, it seems the democratic and sensible thing to do.
Then again, this is Paranoia.
Gotta say though, as far as I can see, the two ideas could be combined quite well, and to good effect. But unless you're thinking of cutting down the content a bit, be prepared to be writing a very long mission. Course, having said that, large portions of it will be very uncripted. Like the Funball match. So mabye it won't be such a challenge after all.
I'm good at arguing with myself. _________________ Clone: Xai-I-SHI-4

The best kind!
And all the extra junk will allow for actual Funball to take a more minor role than had been indicated. I vote for the combo. _________________ Remember, exemplary hygiene saves lives.

I'll vote for mixing the two. If we include the Power-Drill Sergeant's PT From Hell it should give the Troubleshooters a very good hint that actually playing Funball in the place of the other team would be suicide.
Maybe they discover that the missing team has been abducted and forced to wear the opposition's uniforms for the big match. Some secret society or other reprogrammed them to create havoc after disposing of the real opposition - PURGE, maybe, in an effort to make Funball fans go insane and riot.
Or there was never any winning team because it was the Brezhnev Railroad of teams - see page 13 of Crash Priority. During the Brezhnev regime in the USSR someone proposed a railroad through Georgia, but over time every last kopek was stolen from the construction fund. To cover their crime, bureaucrats created figures saying that not only was it a good railroad, it was the best and most productive railroad in the entire USSR. I think it would be funny if the Troubleshooters turn up and discover a few nominal coaches and staffers (including the very bored Power-Drill Sergeant who wants to practice on something resembling a real team) and a bunch of paper-pushing bureaucrats engaged in massive fraud. _________________ "Heads don't USUALLY explode for no reason."

Although democracy sounds a lot like Communism, I'll allow it for the MCM2. Therefore, we shall go forward by combining the two plots. Double the paranoia!
Also therefore, this thread is now closed. The people have spoken, so it's time to shut them up before you-know-who overhears our little experiment in choice. _________________ IC note: Wields a laser pistol that talks to him through a tiny wireless earpiece. No, really. |
