As announced in Newsletter #4, our R&D division has unleashed the latest in GM gizmos and they've imaginatively called it the GM Gizmo Mk1.
Feedback, praise, moaining, bewildernment, screaming and general comments are all welcome, although usually ignored. _________________ High Programmer Jazzer ~ Webmaster of Paranoia-Live.net |

To move the GM Gizmo Mk1 around the screen, hold the right mouse button anywhere within the Gizmo and move it to where you want.
|
What if I don't have a right mouse button?

| To turn off the Gizmo, right click the FC icon in your systray (near your system clock) and select Exit. |
What if I can't "right-click" and I don't have a system tray?
Oh,I get it... This is one of those Windows-only things, eh?
How quaint. |

Much as I tempted to follow Friend Computer policy and simply forward your observations to IntSec Rifle Training School, I'll address them instead. With the software I have, it seemed impossible to contain a 'Quit' function within the exe. So a normal 'off' button just didn't work.
To make it draggible, again, right click was the only option within the Projector creator used. Left click dragging completely disabled the functionality.
If it's of any use, I've uploaded a new version which is exactly the same except that it now appears in the taskbar instead of the systray. _________________ High Programmer Jazzer ~ Webmaster of Paranoia-Live.net |

(I do have a taskbar, a system tray, and a 3-button scroll-mouse. I am running WinXP. But not all GMs have Windows...) |

THEN TOUGH! I DIDN'T WRITE THE BLOODY SOFTWARE THAT CREATES THE EXE!
Proof positive that you can't please everyone. Or perhaps anyone. _________________ High Programmer Jazzer ~ Webmaster of Paranoia-Live.net |

And before you say anything, if you wish to go and buy me some more software, that's fine. _________________ High Programmer Jazzer ~ Webmaster of Paranoia-Live.net |

If there is a Mac user out there that can't use the Gizmo in it's present form, I can make the Flash Projector exe available. A loyalty test may be required though. _________________ High Programmer Jazzer ~ Webmaster of Paranoia-Live.net |

Oh, and note to fellow GMs:
Although it's nifty, you ain't missing anything, unless you don't have the 2nd Edition GM rules, in which case it's a !@#$*&! godsend. _________________ -Mike-V-LEM, Head of HPD&MC |

That's as maybe but I prefer people try it out for themselves. _________________ High Programmer Jazzer ~ Webmaster of Paranoia-Live.net |

Well, maybe I'm biased because I was hoping for a cool game where I could vaporize screaming Troubleshooters. TacNuke Practice Range, maybe?
You gotta admit, the title is as descriptive as Project It. It's basically a DX Paranoia Dice Roller. _________________ -Mike-V-LEM, Head of HPD&MC |

The ambiguity of the newsletter was surely the fault of Commie Mutant Traitors, and not myself in the least. I was thinking that a large quantity of action packed words that actually tell you next to nothing was very Paranoia-esque, and I thought it would be amusing. As I said, I blame the commies, and I'm not going to apologize for their damned traitorous behavior! The nerve of those guys! Sheesh!
As for the interactive game that you mentioned...

Citizen Mike, that is a most fantastic idea! Let us know when you've finished coding that game, and we'll post it for all happy citizens to enjoy!
Until Mike's new game is ready, I thank citizen Jazzer for his hard work, and his funny graphics, and the obvious fact that he just plain cares. (The usual payment by the end of the week will be fine, Jazz) I look forward to his future endeavors, as I have some traitorous knowledge of what they might be.

Well as requested here's some feed back:
a. It's a great tool... thanks for the hard work
b. The only contra is that it takes quite a while to set all the data in a combat situation, so instead of speed up, it might delay.... but hey, is still better than nothing, and don't missunderstand me, refer to point a. (above)
c. As someone mention, yes there are game masters running otherthings than windows, ie. "ME"... I run OSX (mac) I tested the gizmo in a PC, and if ever there's an attempt to port it somehow to mac I'll be more than willing to tested and offer acurate feedback.
d. have a BBB and refer to point a. (above) |

Thank you for your feedback, citizen.
On the thorny issue of the Combat Calc... I'm working on it. My intention was always to have it work like the rest of the Gizmo but it was taking too long to hunt out the bug (or in my case, understand the problem!). I might be a High Programmer but I'm not a Flash programmer. If/when that issue has been resolved, a new, all OS-friendly version will be released. _________________ High Programmer Jazzer ~ Webmaster of Paranoia-Live.net |
