Security clearance
From Alphapedia Complexia
In Alpha Complex, all objects, areas and citizens are given a security clearance. The different clearances and their hierarchy are indicated by wavelengths of colors on the electromagnetic spectrum. These are the clearance colors in order of lowest to highest:
- INFRARED (represented by the color black)
- RED
- ORANGE
- YELLOW
- GREEN
- BLUE
- INDIGO
- VIOLET
- ULTRAVIOLET (represented by the color white)
Clearance is a representation of The Computer's trust in that citizen. To move up the ranks of clearance, citizens must perform services for Alpha Complex and The Computer. The best way to gain ranks is to find traitors and execute them, with the result that most higher clearance citizens are untrustworthy backstabbers (and I didn't say that). However, moving up the clearance ranks is important in Alpha Complex, as higher clearance clones get better living quarters, better food and higher wages. Thus, while an INFRARED will sleep in a dormitory with many of his fellow INFRAREDs, a BLUE will get his own personal suite of apartments (tastefully colored blue, of course), and VIOLETS have their own subsectors. You're not cleared to know where, or how, ULTRAVIOLETS live.
Rumors of a very secret security clearance that is even higher than ULTRAVIOLET, GAMMA, are treasonous.
