Treason is the primary security risk in Alpha Complex. Treason is what keeps Friend Computer awake at night. Treason is everywhere!

Crimes against The Computer, its property or its citizens are considered treason. Failing to obey The Computer is treason. Failing to follow the direct orders of a superior citizen is treason. Failure to be happy is treason. The Computer is convinced that Commies are the source of all treason in Alpha Complex. By its own logic, anyone committing (or suspected of committing) treason is likely to be a Commie Traitor. Since The Computer considers Commies to be the mortal enemies of Alpha Complex, being caught for treason is generally thought to be a bad thing. Punishments for treason vary from a public reprimand to summary execution, depending on the seriousness of the treason.

Rumors that innocent citizens are often terminated by mistake are, of course, treason (see above).
